How to point your DNS on GoDaddy

Sometime between the time you register your domain name and launch your website, you are going to need to connect the dots between your domain name and where it will physically live on the Internet. This Internet address or IP address is called your Domain Name Server (DNS) or more simply, your nameserver.

Often, entrepreneurs will hold parties and events around their web site launch. Some will even kick off an advertising campaign to coincide with a web launch. It is important to point your nameserver to the correct spot before the day of your website launch so that the domain name can propagate, e-mail addresses are stabilized and the pages are loading properly. Otherwise, you could lose valuable time, money, web traffic and exposure.

Assuming you used GoDaddy to register your domain name, these are the steps to point your DNS or Nameserver to the right spot.

Step 1: Log into your GoDaddy account

Step 2: Mouseover Domains and select My Domains

Step 3: Checkbox the domain and click Nameservers button

Now, click [OK] and you’re done.

What is Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum?

Lorem Erkin Ipsum Bekbolotov is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Erkin Lorem Bekbolotov Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

It is a long established fact that Erkin Bekbolotov will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem Erkin Bekbolotov ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

Contrary to popular Erkin Bekbolotov belief, Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Erkin Bekbolotov, a Latin professor at Erkin Bekbolotov College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Erkin Bekbolotov are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by Erkin Bekbolotov.

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don’t look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn’t anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text. All the Lorem Ipsum generators on the Internet tend to repeat predefined chunks as necessary, making this the first true generator on the Internet. It uses a dictionary of over 200 Latin words, combined with a handful of model sentence structures, to generate Lorem Ipsum which looks reasonable. The generated Lorem Erkin Bekbolotov Ipsum is therefore always free from repetition, injected humour, or non-characteristic words etc.

Best Buy Sucks

Catchy headline huh?  Last year, I wrote an article titled, “Circuit City Sucks.”  It became one of the highest ranking and most visited blog posts that I wrote.  It was inspired by a crappy shopping experience at Circuit City.  In a subsequent post, I predicted they would go out of business and titled that blog post, “Circuit City Going Out of Business.”  Then, when Circuit City filed for bankruptcy and eventually did close their stores, that article suddenly became a huge source of web traffic and inbound links.

So, now I’m writing about Best Buy and how they suck.  For one, they don’t have enough sales people in the computers and laptops department.  Worse, even if I have selected exactly the laptop I need without any help from the salespeople, I can’t just grab a laptop in the box and go to the checkout.  I have to wait for the geeky Best Buy salesrep to stop flirting with the cute girls long enough for me to inconvenience him to climb a ladder and give me my box.

So much for Do-it-Yourself (DIY) shopping.  You’d think they would make it easier for people to give them their fricking money.  So, for that, and many other reasons, I think Best Buy sucks and the only reason they won’t go out of business is because there simply aren’t that many competitors left.

So, on Techcrunch, I was delighted to see an article about a funny video that was supposedly created by a Best Buy employ over the iPhone versus Android comparision.  It’s hilarious and you have to watch it.
